Picture requirements

Visa photo requirements:
Each applicant who applies for visa and fills out DS-160 application form has to have a digital photo. The picture have to be submitted as a JPEG image and it has to be recent and with passport specifications. The following guideline will help you to take your photo correctly. It is not necessary to be taken by professional photographer but it has to meet the following criteria:
If your picture does not meet the requirements, your application might be denied or delayed.
Color: at ration of 24 bits per pixel.
File size: less or equal to 240 KB (kilobytes)
Dimensions: square (height and width must be equal.  The minimum is 600 pixels (height and width); and the maximum is 1200 pixels (height and width).
Compression: use a ratio less or equal to 20:1 9 ( if the compression is necessary)
Print size: if you scan the picture from the original one please be sure that it must be at lease 2×2 ( in inches) or 51×51 ( millimeters)

The Composition:                                                                             
 Content: the picture must illustrate you face, neck and shoulders. You have to face frontwards to the camera without any emotions and with fully open eyes. You are allowed to wear head covering ONLY for religious purposes. You are not allowed to any sunglasses. The picture has to be clear enough for showing small features like birth marks or moles.
Head Size: The area from your hair to the bottom of the chin has to be between 50% and 69% of the total image. The head has to be centered in the picture.
Prescription Eyewear: Classes are allowed. However, you should avoid any blur or glare. The nonprescription or dark glasses are allowed only for medical reasons, in other case the picture will not bi accepted.
Validity: the picture must be taken in at least six months.
Background: Neutral, plain, light colored without any shadows.
Contrast/Brightness: set to show the natural skin tome of the applicant.
